Profile

"Kashmir"- the valley of streams & lakes, flowers & fruits where apple and almond orchards are endless...... where the cherries blossom and is bestowed with their four season. That is why it is called "a paradise on earth". The history of Shawl weaving in Kashmir dates back to the period of Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamadani (r.a) 1341-1385 A.D. - the famous sufi saint of Persia, who came to enlighten Kashmir with his spiritual guidance and brought along highly skilled artisans, who laid base for cottage industries in Kashmir valley. Shawl weaving, carpet weaving, embroideries, woodcarving , paper-machie and many other handicrafts are still inherited in the families from generation to generation. It is said that the shawls were famous from Kashmir even in the times of emperor Ashok (3rd C BC) but many writers credited Sultan Zain-Ul-Abidin (1420-1470 A.D) as the initiator of Shawl industry in Kashmir.

Editor's Review

Shah Arts Emporium is offering a new collection of its impressive range of products including carpets, shawls, scarves, silk fabrics and various accessories aside from a host of other items for both men and women. Shah Arts Emporium is an outlet that every discerning buyer of carpets, exclusive pashmina shawls and garments, accessories and more is familiar about. All items carry the label of trust and quality that Shah Arts Emporium can boast of. Little wonder that the Export Award for the Year 2005-2006 & 2006-2007 was presented to Shri S. Mohsin Shah by the Hon'ble Minister of state for Textiles, Govt. of India.
