The Designer & the Design Aesthetics
At RK Jewellers, the team of designers are referred to as ‘artists’ because of the art pieces they transform their jewellery into and these artists have over the past six years, given a design language unique to the face of the jewellery of this brand
They harmoniously fuse old world aesthetics with new world fashion, resulting in breathtakingly unique, wearable works of art. Studying the intricacies of Indian art through travel and extensive independent work, their artists (designers) bring everything under one roof.
The team is now headed by Prakshi Sharma, a 25-year-old jewellery artist from New Delhi who graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York. It would be good to say that she has a life which girls of her age dream of. Her design won the best bridal designs award by the Carolee Jewellery Company and her designs were displayed in Bloomingdales, one of the biggest retail chains in North America. Jewellery design for Prakshi was a happy accident. While pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Economics, she discovered that her true calling lay in designing exquisite pieces of jewellery and not econometric models. She draws inspiration from things around her and the truly global city she lives in. Trained by the best in the industry, her designs are global in a way that reflects the culture and rich heritage of India. Inspired by the snake charmer and big fat Indian weddings, Prakshi’s bridal collection is displayed at the leading luxury stores in New York’s fall collection.
Indigenous Production
Another major USP of RK Jewellers is that they manufacture their own jewellery. As they make the designs themselves, they also ensure that the quality is top notch, the design does not lose its original aesthetic and most importantly the thought of its creator is communicated in the manufactred piece.
When Love Shone in Beautiful Creations
The Valentine’s Day ‘Love Collection’ by RK Jewellers, South Ex II offering contemporary heart shaped pendants was a grand success. The collection offered both traditional and modern styling and the superlative use of diamonds with sapphire, emeralds and pearls made sure jewellery lovers could not resist this versatile collection.
Looking Ahead
The company also plans to reach out to customers by opening multiple stores in north India over the next couple of years. This would help RK Jewellers reach out to the new and upcoming sections of Indian society and offer them world-class
products.
RK JEWELLERS UNVEILS ‘QASMA’ THIS WEDDING SEASON
The ‘Qasma Collection’ is inspired by the ‘seven vows and saat pheras’ of our Indian Wedding tradition. The designs capture the essence of sophisticated luxury by provoking femininity, allure and glamour. These one-of-a-kind engagement rings and wedding bands reflect the elegance and innovative style of the modern lady. Each piece in the collection has been designed to mirror the uniqueness of every bride, by capturing the essence of the moment and displaying a distinctively whimsical look. This is their Victorian inspired, beautiful engagement ring that adorns colourless diamonds set in 18K white gold, encircles a gigantic 3 ct solitaire in the center symbolizing eternal love.
Prakshi Sharma, jewellery designer, RK Jewellers says, “We have designed keeping in mind today’s sensitive Indian brides; the pieces in the collection are made for all the occasions of wedding celebration. Every silhouette, all interlace is designed and styled to certain concepts of Indian matrimony. The necklaces, bangles, rings, earrings and cuffs have intricate and well-articulated designs, accent its expressiveness”.
Derived from the Urdu word meaning the promise, the name ‘Qasma’ symbolizes the seven vows that every couple takes on the wedding day. This collection perfectly marries both the traditions of former times with the up-to-date version of the wedding promises and the new emerging thoughts of their buyers.
RK JEWELLERS UNVEILED '"ZISTATVA" @IIJW
The collection inspired by the opulent Indian culture and showcased at IIJW, had actress Zeenat Aman as its showstopper. “Zistatva”, the latest collection by RKJ, is the Sanskrit word for ‘culture’. Every piece, in the collection, has been conceptualised, designed and crafted to recreate the beauty of the bride. Ranging from bridal pendant sets, bangles, bridal chokers to Maharani sets; Zistatva collection completes the Indian bride. The rich heritage of the subcontinent is reinvented as contemporary high fashion through the Indian craftsmanship. Through Zistatva, RK Jewellers tried to bring craftsmen from all over India and revive the lost craft. This is the most comprehensive and varied collection they have come up with. The artists worked with close co-operation with the craftsmen and created 18 pieces in the collection each of which is a masterpiece in itself. The pieces are made with the perfect blend of kundan, polki, diamonds and coloured gemstones, crafted and set in 22kt hallmarked gold with a Zistatva look to it. “In the face of mass, generic and fast fashion, designers have increasingly turned to branding or gimmick to win the attention of the media or their clientele but the real beauty, luxury and elegance, however, require no tricks to seduce us. Intricate craftsmanship, along with the return to gold celebrates Indian Culture and this is what you will find at RK Jewellers” says Rohan Sharma, Director, RK Jewellers.
