Weddings these days are a gala affair, gone are the days of simple traditional functions and intimate family gatherings. The shy bride has given way to a vibrant bride who loves to participate as much in the preparations as she loves to enjoy each of the ceremonies wholeheartedly.Wedding functions now comprise a five-day affair with pre-wedding and post-wedding functions ranging from bachelorette, youngsters party, cocktail theme night and sagan-engagement to wedding day and reception.Traditional attires like a lehenga still steals the hearts of most of the brides for their D-day, but brides have now started experimenting with their attires for other functions. Gowns, cocktail dresses, one-piece sarees are a hot favourite with the brides.Drapes and silhouettes, which enhance the personality of the bride with distinct cuts and fabrics are a rage this season. Draped sarees, which came in fad last year, have been reinvented this season. The fact that these come in “zip it and done” formats with no pallu to be pinned up or no pleats to be gathered and attached have given the girls a free way to carry themselves and enjoy the functions.

Here’s a trend check on gowns for brides-to-be according to different functions–
Pre- wedding – (Cocktail /Bachelorette) A gown with side slits and flowing cuts or an ultra- modern piece with frill chiffon sleeves with yellow gold embroidery and self sheen peplum skirt will be perfect for these fun-filled ceremonies.
Brides can also opt for a bold colour like black for the cocktail night. This elegant gown has French lace with a lining of shimmer sequin work; the side slit and the placement of lace is as such that it gives the gown a feel of sexiness and sophistication with a fit to die for.
For Sagan/ Engagement: A trail gown in bridal colours of red, pink and fuchsia with subtle embroidery and hand work with net detailing is the trend this season.

Brides these days ask for deep backs and interesting cuts. They don’t shy away from a little skin show. Intricate sequins work or a dash of shimmer adds glamour to the gown.
For Reception: Brides ask for princess-style gowns with long side trails or back trails and layered fabrics. This is a beautiful tailed gown with appliqué and sequin work, made to fit every body type perfectly. Made on pure organza, the lace on the belt accentuates the body shape.Colours like gold, royal blue, sea green and bubble pink are hot favourites this season.
