Take a Romantic Mini-Moon Honeymoon

By Richa

THE MINIMOON - these little gems didn’t even exist a few years ago and now they’re bona fide vacations… Plan Your Wedding explores why and how it has even made it into the dictionaries. And check out some of the ideas below to get inspired and plan your perfect minimoon.

There are no rules anymore when it comes to honeymoon planning. While it was once common place to hop on a plane or cruise ship the day after the wedding for a week or fortnight - long vacation, many couples don’t have the time or budget for that anymore. So it’s no surprise that there has been a rise in ‘minimoons’ - short honeymoons that allow couples a quick romantic getaway.

Taking a minimoon does not mean compromising on quality or choice. No matter how long you have just make sure you get the most out of your chosen destination in the time and budget available. Whether you’re outdoor adventure lovers, wine and fine dining connoisseurs, beach bums, or just in need of some post-wedding relaxation, a mini moon can be every bit as glamorous and indulgent as a longer honeymoon – so long as you get the location right. With only a short time away from home, you clearly don’t want to spend too long travelling. It’s all about finding a gorgeous place to stay and settling down quickly to a few days of fun and relaxation.

Nowadays, it seems more and more newlyweds are postponing their extended vacations to exotic locations and opting to go on quick getaways closer to home instead. Whether it’s because of time or money, here are a few reasons a mini-moon might be the best choice for you.

Signs that the mini-moon is perfect for you:

1. You’re footing the bill for your big day

Weddings can be very expensive; you might not have money left over for the honeymoon you really want. At least not right away, that is. Instead of settling for an average to bad experience romance, it’s wise to take a mini-moon, save up and schedule your honeymoon for a later time.

2. You’re fresh out of vacation days

Chances are you’ll want to take a few days off work in the week leading up to your wedding, for errands and last-minute fittings, which mean you may not have an extra two weeks to take off for a full-blown honeymoon after the wedding.

3. You’re having a destination wedding

Destination weddings are particularly draining (both emotionally and physically) than regular weddings, making the minimoon much more desirable. You have already travelled miles for your wedding, so in order to ensure an enjoyable minimoon, select a location that requires little travel; nothing is more anxiety-inducing than a short vacation made even briefer by days of airplane flights and lengthy car rides. Furthermore, pick a single location near your home you feel you can master over a limited time span.

4. You know you’ll be exhausted

Indian weddings are an elaborated affair – a five day festival – which can be exhausting especially for the newlyweds. Plus, you two will have plenty to do after the wedding. Getting your first home ready together can be a very exciting and fun time but is also a lot of work; almost as demanding as wedding planning. Take time after the big day to settle in and make home feel like, well, home. You’re going to need some time to recover from all that - hence, rise of the minimoon sounds like a perfect idea.

5. It’s (ideally) less stressful

Planning a wedding AND a honeymoon at the same time can be a LOT of work! Save yourself the stress, book a couple of nights at a nice hotel somewhere near and call it a day. Done and done.

For an ideal minimoon don’t try to cram too much into your itinerary. Opt for a location, where everything you want to see or experience is close at hand, so that you have limited travelling to do. Pre-book your hotel stay. Remember, you only have a limited amount of time, so spend it wisely. Let us help you zero down on a place in India as well as abroad where you both may enjoy!

Culture Trip

“People are exercising the universal law of ‘love is eternal’ quite literally these days. We have observed a steep rise in couple outings. A half decade ago, there was a predictable trend of couples booking their honeymoon trips just after the wedding season which is during the summer vacations. However, now honeymoon getaways have become quite frequent in a year leading to multiple mini-honeymoons that is minimoons,” says Mr. Karan Anand, Head-Relationships, Cox and Kings.

“Making honeymoon memorable is a given for the couples. And the place is an important factor that adds to the glittering honeymoon dreams. There has been a rise of 30 percent in our exclusive honeymoon packages. This has guided us to make special packages for the couples and including newer places to satisfy the demand of rising minimoon,” he further added.

Honeymoon or minimoon - either way, a vacation with your forever partner is an experience that you will never forget. It’s a decision that you should make with your soon-to-be partner. When the time comes, soak it all in and bask in the joy of being married to your soul mate. Cheers!
