A wedding is an opulent affair, beyond doubts in the context of indian society. from traditional reeti-riwaz to modern glitters, everything is weaved in to add grandeur to a wedding. the essence of vibrancy knitted with the ornamentation makes a wedding illustrious and ceremonious. Rahul Gupta, 24, one of the most eligible boys of ‘Surya Sarees’ family from the house of Hoshiyar Singh Suresh Chandra Sarees Pvt. Ltd, Maliwara, Chandni Chowk, Delhi in the business of manufacturing and exporting of traditional Indian wear for women got married to Shruti Aggarwal, 23, daughter of a well-known businessman Ashok Aggarwal. The marriage was solemnised amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras and endless showers of blessings from relatives and friends. The wedding venue, The Umrao of Delhi was echoing with elation and personifying “Jashn-e-Bahara”, the theme of this wedding.


The Grand Opulence
Based on the theme, Jashan-e-Bahara, the whole session was electrified and magnified with larger than life celebrations. The Surya family did everything possible to up the festive spirit weaving in entertainment gigs from all genres. The whole wedding had been planned keeping in mind the minutest of all details and no doubt, it looked out of the world.
300 rooms at Delhi’s elite Hotel JW Marriot were booked for the entire span of the celebrations for the guests. As a part of pre-wedding celebrations, the Surya family came together for a “Family Awards Night” on February 2, 2014. Adding uniqueness to the day, the guests were awarded for their performances. The event anchored by Shilpa Bhasin of Zoom TV fame saw people competing in 12 categories on the basis of their personal traits. Live drummers, Brazilian Samba dancers and various other stunning performances made the show a stunning affair.


Sham-e-Avadh
The same evening culminated into a night of music and dance. Bollywood singers, Shadab Faridi and Devyani renowned for their songs, compelled the guests to shake their legs. The nawabi dress code was a big hit with the crowd.


Family Antakshari & Mehendi

On Feb 3, 2014, about noon, a family antakashari round was hosted by none other than Pooja Bedi and Harish Moyal of Indian Idol fame. Family members split into three teams to have a blast of their life. A little later, the mehendi ceremony took place in the hotel. This was followed by Punjabi Giddha and Bhangra dance by professional groups. Vrindavan phoolon ki Holi was the showstopper of the day.


The Wedding Procession

The wedding procession was a hallmark of grandeur and luxury by all standards. The wedding procession was escorted by two monstrous Harley Davidson bikes followed by the convoy of Limousines and an exclusively adorned Hummer carrying Rahul. The whole procession looked like a huge caravan of opulence and luxury and mesmerised the on-lookers.


The Elegant Wedding
The wedding procession was given a warm welcome at the Umrao. It was no less than a fusion of Indian and western cultures. A special band with specially handpicked dancers from distant lands formed an electric combination. The whole wedding reeked of class. Emotions took the upper hand towards the end. Rahul and Shruti took their marraige vows and it was time for the two to take a leap towards their new life.


The Royal Reception
All good things come to an end but, in this case, it was just the beginning of good times. And, to celebrate the new beginning of Rahul and Shruti, a grand reception was hosted by Surya family at The Marriot. Everybody was left spellbound when Rahul and Shruti came down in an exclusively designed Cinderella Cart wearing an exclusive look specially designed for the occasion by Sabyasachi. The couple was escorted by Srilankan dancers to the stage. The whole evening was a medley-of-sorts encasing enthralling events. Mesmerising was the Acrobatic Salsa dance performance by India’s Got Talent fame Sonia and Divakar, so was the air-bound musicians playing violin followed by a quick change of act by cycle-mounted artists which left everyone spellbound and none could stop humming dama dum mast kalandar when the ace singer, Preeti Bhalla took over the microphone. While entertainment was the best; food was equally satiating. With a buffet menu of more than 400 dishes, none could have asked for anything more.
