Pristine Pearls from the City of Pearls

By Asra Shaheen

In the city of pearls, there is no dearth of jewellers engaged in the traditional business of pearls. Some carve out a niche by virtue of their quality and workmanship. Swati Pearls & Jewellers is one of them.

In the city of pearls, there is no dearth of jewellers engaged in the traditional business of pearls. Some carve out a niche by virtue of their quality and workmanship. Swati Pearls & Jewellers is one of them. The story of Mr G Anil Kumar of Swati Pearls & Jewellers dates back to his teens when he used to work for a jeweller in the twin cities. He learned the nuances of the trade at a very young age and set up his own outlet in January, 2006, on Chapel Road. From thence he has opened two other stores in important business areas namely Abids and Banjara Hills. The only dealer in Miki Moto Japanese pearls, his designs are mostly in gold (White and Yellow) with pearls and Tahiti. His customer profile is the who’s who of the city to patrons from all over the world, so much so that he has planned to start an outlet abroad in the near future.

The three stores in operation right now fulfills the need of the discerning tourist as well as those with an eye for quality work as they are strategically located in areas of historical importance and business also. Space is not a constraint in all establishments and the ever ready personal manning the places make the shopping experience a pleasurable one.

While the prices are competent because of inhouse manufacturing and designing, the designs are popular as these are carved out keeping in mind the valuable customer feedback.

A conscious businessman Mr Anil Kumar practices ‘tithe’, only in this case he returns to society 30% of his profits to the under privileged through various donations to charities and religious institutions. He has carved a niche for himself in western jewellery design and his product range is priced from a measly INR 500 to over hundreds of thousand rupees in some cases.
