ONTREND LIP SHADES

By Sonam Poddar Hissaria

One swipe of lipstick can change your complete look. Plan your wedding brings you the newest and hottest lip shades of the season. Take a look!

Lipstick is the only product out there that can instantly - and easily - transform your ultimate look and make you look gorgeous. That’s the reason, when taking notes of all the season’s upcoming beauty trends; you should always keep your eyes on the lippies. Whether they’re glossy or matte, nude or bold - knowing it will help you keep your makeup bags stocked with options, and pull them out whenever your face needs a boost.
From classic shades, brights, and subtle hues - to interesting textures and finishes, in this season there truly is a lip product out there for everyone. Are you ready to start building (or adding to) your collection?
Velvety matte: These super-matte shades are totally next-level. They stick to your lips and turn into a velvety texture that you’ll fall in love with. Classic red; vampy oxblood; shocking pink; and even gold - you can see nearly every shade swathed across lips for summer’16. Whether you credit the birth of this beauty trend to Rihanna’s ever-changing lipstick wardrobe, or the simple fact that a quick coat of crimson polishes off a Marchesa ball gown just as well as it does a pin-striped blazer from Topshop, we’re glad the mouth is having a moment.

Berry: Berry coloured lipstick has to be one of my favorites of all time. Although it is usually saved for the colder seasons of fall and winter, the runways for 2016 showed berry lips as being a huge trend for spring. So, no need to store away your berry lipstick just yet! Both matte and sheen finishes look great in berry lipstick, so pick to your liking. Try the superb Estee Lauder Signature Lipstick in Woodland Berry.
Bubblegum Pink: I know, bright pink for summer, what? Groundbreaking. But pink was a huge colour trend this year, especially for lipstick. You’ll turn heads and light up a room in your bubblegum pink lipstick. Remember, when wearing bright shades, there’s really no need to create a fuss with the rest of your makeup. Keep everything simple, as all of the attention will be on your gorgeous lips. This shade kind of reminds me of a Barbie doll, which just makes me like it even more. Try Chambor rouge plump+ 748. It’s the prettiest pink and it is pure cream, really pigmented and really coats the lips beautifully, no shimmer or frost, just perfect, you can use this with a lip brush since this is insanely pigmented and things could go out of control. This one does not stain and lasts for three plus hours but it might bleed since it is so luscious, great for fair skin and dry lips.

Chestnut: It might not be the colour you expected to see, but chestnut lipstick is huge this season. The colour is lighter than brown, but darker than a nude, and is so unexpected, so why not be a little daring and rock it? You can wear this like you would wear a nude shade, a la Kylie Jenner, or you can do a whole ‘90s throwback look to have a little fun with it. Try Maybelline Colour Sensational Moisture Extreme Lipstick-Chestnut. This shade is a mixture of coral pink and brown which makes it a beautiful shade and it will suit every complexion. The formula is creamy and it glides easily on the lips without settling into fine lines. It doesn’t bleed and is non-transferable – an added advantage. It gives a glossy finish to the lips and stays for 4-5 hours. You’ll fall in love with this shade as it’s very nice and will brighten up your face.
Crimson: Who says burgundy lipstick is only for the winter? Feel free to keep rocking a dark lip in this season with the colour crimson, because it was huge on the runways. This dark red shade is dramatic, and might be just what you need to dress up an outfit. To keep yourself from looking too dark all over, wear a light shadow on your eyes to brighten them, a little mascara on top and bottom lashes, some blush, and you’ll be good to go. Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Satin Lip Colour in Pirate Chanel is a colour for grown-up women. It has a red jewel colour with a blue base. So, it is a much darker colour than its warmer reds. Although it looks kind of shimmery in the tube, on the lip, it looks intensely red.
Coral: I basically wait all year long to be able to wear coral lip colours in the spring and summer. It’s such a fun shade for warmer weather. A swipe of this lip colour will instantly warm up your face. Find the right hue and you’ll want to wear it every day. MAC Vegas Volt is a must this season. The shade is a superb mix of orange and coral and the shade surely packs a punch. The shade comes in an amplified finish which makes it even more attractive. The coverage is full and staying power is also good.

Fucshia: Nothing says spring more like a bright, fun fuchsia lip. I think I can pretty confidently say that fuchsia will never go out of style. I’ve been wearing fuchsia coloured lipstick for as long as I can remember and it never gets old for me! It’s the easiest way to brighten up any outfit, even something simple. If you want to make the colour pop even more, swipe a little bit of clear lip-gloss in the middle of your lip. Try L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick – Intense Fuchsia. Shade-wise, this is definitely what a fuchsia is supposed to be: a bright, intense cross between pink and red.
Peach: For me, peach coloured lipstick just screams spring. Peach is a great lipstick colour to brighten up your face and look warm-weather ready. It’s really versatile, because it can be dressed up a bit, or it can be made to look more like a nude almost - some shades are more vibrant than others. Pick a shade of peach that works for your complexion and one you feel comfortable wearing. I personally recommend the MAC colour, which is a definite classic. MAC Peachstock Lipstick is a warm, creamy, opaque peachy-beige with a satin finish.
Rose: Rose coloured lipstick was seen everywhere on the runways for this season and it is one of my absolute favorites. Sephora actually named rose the Colour Of The Year, so it’s no surprise that this shade is major. Rose seriously looks great on everyone and it’s such a subtle colour, you can wear it for office or for a night out. Sephora + Pantone universe’s Colour of the Year Layer Lipstick is a rich, velvety, ultra-hydrating lipstick that delivers a dramatic punch of colour. Break the monotony of sheer pastels and go bold with a high-coverage pastel pink meant to layer and be mixed with other shades. A high concentration of ultra-thin pigments incorporated into a rich blend of emollient oils and waxes offers a radically intense, satiny finish on the lips.

Sheer Nude: A sheer nude lipstick should always be a staple in your makeup collection. Whether you’re wearing a lot of makeup or none at all, a nude lip will always make you look complete. Nude lipstick has always been “in”, so I’m not surprised that it’s a huge lip colour for this season. Mac’s Hug me is a sheer nude with peach tones. It is one of those true nudes, which are neither too pink nor too brown. If you have pigmented lips then the exact colour won’t show since it lacks in the pigmentation department. It will suit all skin tones from fair to dark. But remember - when it comes to a nude lip, it’s different for everyone. What looks nude and natural on me might look frosty and weird on someone else. Try out different colours until you find one that works with your skin tone.
Makeup artist Michael Anthony gave some cool tips on trying two new lips which are super awesome and super easy!!
Vamp Lady: Dark and dramatic doesn’t have to mean one-dimensional. Exfoliate lips with a soft toothbrush or a sugar scrub, hydrate with a balm, and blot using a piece of paper—not a tissue, which can leave fuzzy particles behind. Next, fill in your entire mouth with a bold berry hue (like Maybelline New York Lip Studio Colour Blur Matte Lip Pencil in Plum), please blot, and reapply. Between each layer, use the silicone tip at the opposite end of the pencil to press the creamy formula into your pout. It’s not about swiping—it’s about pushing the pigment into the lips so that the colour is saturated and stays put. To create the illusion of fullness, run a short band of bright red (like Maybelline New York Lip Studio Colour Blur in Partner in Crimson) horizontally across the center of your mouth and blend it toward the perimeter with the smudger.
Lady in Red: This look is like a fresh bottle of cava: festive and fancy, yet totally unfussy. For fêtes where the bubbly is flowing, stick to a shine-free ruby lip colour (like Maybelline New York Lip Studio Colour Blur Matte Lip Pencil in Partner in Crimson). Matte lipstick stays put much longer than glossy formulas. It’s a fact that blue-based reds make teeth appear whiter. To plump up your pout, line the perimeter with a lip pencil that’s slightly darker than your lipstick—tracing just outside your natural shape. I like to split the difference between going right under the roll of the lip and right past it. Using the same liner, fill in the outer corners of your mouth to create depth, then blend the liner with the smudging end of the Colour Blur crayon towards the center of your pout, so that the transition is smooth and lips look less drawn-on. Colour in the entire lip with the creamy, pointed tip, blot, and add another layer to make your mouth mistletoe proof.
