The wedlock of Karthik and Anusha held at Bangalore main palace played the perfect backdrop to the majestic event. Anusha, daughter of G Mallapa Raju and Padma has done her MS in pharmaceutical systems management and was working with a drug discovery firm in Hyderabad and Karthik Raju, son of Sunder Raju and Thejavathi Raju has a BBA degree from University of Colorado.
It was innovatively designed with traditional elements expressed in rich artistic handmade paintings and lavish wooden diyas and an invitingly warm environment. “It was my mother’s idea to have a village themed wedding. She wanted to have something different that highlighted Indian or local tradition and culture with a simple yet elegant look”, says Karthik, the groom.
The wedding went on with great aplomb and was planned perfectly Lakshmi Keerthi who owns La’kiru, The Wedding Lounge and the production was executed by Wedding Mansion.
Anusha, the radiant bride looked resplendent in a grand zari saree and the groom looked dapper in white. The theme chosen for splendid occasion was the village theme. There were intricately designed arch and mud walls from the entrance gate to the back drop.
It was a jathre theme at the entry foyer; every element had a conventional touch to it. The welcome drinks were majjigge (buttermilk) and handmade sugarcane juice, there was a balegara who gave the customary bangles to the guests and this space had a beautiful bangle backdrop. There was a potter who made pots and gave it away to the guests like however the guests wanted.
To give the ambience a fresh feel, they had extracted the juice from paneer leaves and kept spraying the scent throughout the event for its unique aroma. There was a tulasi katte and huge wooden deepa kambas to justify the theme.
Traditional Muhurtam
It was an island mantapa for the wedding as they had incorporated all the five elements – earth, air, water, fire and sky. There was a water body surrounding the mantap and they had brought in real lawn around the water body to give an earthy authentic touch.
Lakshmi Keerthi made sure that the elements included in the décor were natural and eco-friendly, adike (areca nut) was one of the elements used for the construction of the mantapam. Only traditional flowers like lotus, rajanigandha, nandi batlu, yakkada hoovu etc., which were specially flown in from Coimbatore were used. The nadaswaram team used those amazingly hand painted walls with themes like srinivasa kalyana and govu as the backdrop, which was a visual treat.
On the whole, it was a tremendously breathtaking wedding with a truly spectacular setting.
