Diwali comes with a huge conundrum of what to adorn on the eve of one of the most anticipated festivals in India. People go crazy on a shopping spree and spend endless hours deciding on that perfect dress to wear. Men explore different ethnic wear styles with eccentric designs and vibrant colours but it becomes tedious to find that one good pair of fine threads from the huge range available in fashion stores. Then there are men, who ask questions like - Is Diwali dressing even a thing? Can we wear casuals at an ethnic-y setting?

However, if wearing something unique this Diwali is on the list of your agenda then here are some ideas:

Your Old-Fashioned Kurta and Patiala Salwar with Twist: If your typical kurta and pyjama is not your thing, then wear a vest jacket on a short kurta along with a patiala salwar. Pair them with the traditional slippers and you are all set to for your Diwali party.

Spotlight Layering – This new trend is making a huge rage this festive season and for all the right reasons. Imagine yourself in a cowl-necked asymmetrical hybrid silhouette of kurta or shirts, with embroidered dinner jackets and velvet drapes – a must-have we say to up your fashion game this and catch some envious eyes.

Pathani Suits - They are super conventional, comfy and easy to find! Not just in clothing stores but also online, there is a wide range available at your disposal! It suits every body type and can be styled as you like - if you like the rugged look, opt for an all black Pathani suit, or solid colours at the most. If you fancy a very chilled outlook, opt for muted or pastel shades.

Military-Inspired Silhouettes - Opt for military-inspired silhouettes with feminine drape details this Diwali season. Accessorise with crystal/medallion brooches, explore colour blocking on hems, and patched pockets. Moreover, remember, only slim-fit trousers with dramatic drapes!

Shantanu And Nikhil

The Versatile Jackets - Not interested in ethnic at all? Then, a casual pair of trousers with a slim-fit jacket on it will never go wrong in a formal gathering. Even a cool jacket with jeans would look marvelous! However, if you are hell bent on going Indian, a Nehru jacket over a shirt and a pair of jeans would do you good.

Some Bling - Believe it or not, a small piece of jewellery can alter your complete look and especially, when your outfit it plain, it can add just the right kind of drama you need without overdoing it. So finish your basic Diwali ensemble with finger rings, a thin neck chain, cufflinks or even a clip on ear stud will do the trick!

Put Your Best Foot Forward - Time-honored shoes can make even a contemporary outfit pass off as traditional, that is the power these shoes possess! So no matter what you do about your outfit – Indian, western or Indo-western, do not forget to pick up at least two pairs of men’s juttis or kolhapuris from the market. You can easily find these while street shopping.
