Couturer Preeti Ghai speaks on the latest trends in bridal wear

By Sanhati Banerjee

Trends in bridal wear: Today’s cosmopolitan bride is very experimental and shades like royal blue, mustard and wine have entered her bridal wardrobe. The makeup for this season stresses on bold eyes and an overall subtle look with shimmer thrown in here and there. The lips should not be very dark.

Preeti Ghai

Highlights for the super glamorous look:
Velvet lehengas with Swarovskis, transparent saris, strappy blouses etc for the glamorous and sensual look. Brides want to flaunt their perfectly worked out bodies so lehengas or saris highlighting the navel or waistline are very popular these days.
Wedding day look:
The royal look will never go wrong. Lots of Swarovski embellishments on lehengas are my personal favourite. The dupatta should be in a contrasting shade and not be too heavy. A three-and-a-half-metre dupatta to wrap it around her arm and over her head will be just fine.
Reception day look:
The bride can choose between a pre-stitched sari and a gown. The gown can be a girlie-glam Barbie doll gown with a trail of a dupatta at the back.
