• Remember your body type, height, skin tone and ensure the gown you choose ends up flattering your curves and looks. Depending on the extent of the occasion and its theme plan your gown. A mermaid style saree-gown or an A-line gown is good for cocktail; whereas a crinoline gown with extensive beading on upper bodice is ideal for a more formal reception.
• The upper part of the gown should always stick to your body and the lower part should always have falls.
• When buying gowns the most important thing to keep in mind is the cut of the outfit; fitting is of utmost importance combined with a cut that suits your body type.
• Accessorise your wedding gown with one statement piece of jewellery - be it a neckpiece or a cuff or ring.
• Complement it with nice high heels, avoid wedges and go for stilettos. Style should be very minimalistic and don’t overdo it.
• One should be careful about the fabric while buying it. If the girl is on the heavier side she should opt for flowy gowns, a girl who is tall and has a good body should opt for a fitted gown.
• If you have a small waist and larger hips, wear one that accentuates the waist. If you have shapely legs knee down, wear an uneven cut gown.
