A traditional Telugu arranged marriage, it was graced by the near and dear ones of both families. The bride, a BBA graduate is also educated in fashion technology from the prestigious institute of fashion, Hamstech. The groom, an engineer, is employed in the US of A with the Information Technology giant, Global Infotech.
Four events marked this propitious occurrence, a Sangeet, Pellikuthuru, the Wedding and the Reception. The sangeet ceremony heightened the excitement of wedding festivities. Held on 24th May, at the JRC Convention Ballroom, the bride’s women relatives and friends played the dholki and sang songs, included ‘jokes’ about the in-laws, and would be husband and on how to have a successful marriage. Songs about the bride leaving her parents home were also included. Pellikuthuru in Telugu literally means Bride. This is the making of the bride ceremony, where the bride dresses up like in her wedding day, performs a Lakshmi or Durga Puja and friends and family bless her. Celebrated at the bride’s home, this was a solemn affair to remember. The wedding, not short of grandiose as is usual in all Reddy weddings, made one stop and take notice. Dressed in a Kancheepuram saree and exquisite jewellery, Ramya was the cynosure of all eyes. Pramod was in his traditional best, Dhoti and all, following the Pandit’s instruction with keenness. May 31st was the reception date and the venue, Shubham Gardens, Nagole X Roads, from 20 hours onwards. Some lip smacking goodies were served for one and all to savour, relish and remember this glorious day for posterity.
