Abhishek Duttas Organic Indigo Line

By Sanhati Banerjee

Unconventional and noteworthy – the farmers’protest against the British for the cultivation of indigo - so the title was “Neel Bidroho” or Indigo Revolution and it was but natural that indigo and natural dyes featured heavily in the collection by Abhishek Dutta for Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2010.

It was a range that aimed to promote nature on all fronts and showcased a quest for aspirational fashion.Inspirations: There was a distinct mix of Islamic touches and Hindu mythology with colours like blue, deep aqua, Turkish blue, white, pearl along with silver and antique gold.
Embellishments: There was a profusion of embellishments with resham, appliqué, cutwork and lots of highlights with mukaish
and metal chains.
Fabrics: The collection used cotton knits, net, linen, chanderi and a mix of silk and cotton all obviously totally eco friendly and organic.
Highlights: The white bundgala jacket with self embroidery, kurtas with shaded indigo dyed side attached dupatta and cotton
jackets with intricate embroidery.
Speciality: There was a lot on offer for lovers of nature and ethnic fusion wear in Abhishek Dutta’s “Neel Bidroho” line that will supposedly ring a note this season.
