By Sanhati Banerjee

Come for a honeymoon in Kerala and enjoy the moments of love and romance in the hill stations and virgin backwaters.

munnar

Kerala is one of the most romantic places on earth. The dazzling waves of the sea, cool aromatic air blowing from the hills, musical streams, chatty rivers, green meadows with flowers enveloping all, romantic places and most of all cool climatic conditions, etc all make Kerala a place to enjoy vacation of lifetime with much pleasure and fun. There are many exotic hill stations in this small state of South India such as Ponmudi, Idduki, Palakkad and Vagamon, but Munnar is the one which is truly wonderful for a perfect honeymoon vacation. Munnar is also known as the Kashmir of the South and is the most sought amongst honeymooners. The well organised tea gardens, the fragrance of the aromatic spice trees like cloves, cardamoms and cinnamon, the mist filled valleys and the lovely hanging clouds from the sky touching the green rolling mountains create a truly romantic ambience.
There are various places of interest in Munnar which are located at a very short distance like the Anaimudi peak, the South India’s highest peak, Rajmalai, Eravikulam National Park, Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary and Thekkady. The Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary is the home to some of the rare species of flora and fauna. Half of the entire population of Nilgiri Tahr is found in Rajamalai. The places like Pothamedu, Lokheart Gap and Devikulam offer various adventure, trekking, trout fishing and picnic opportunities. In Attukal, Nayamakkad and Chithrapuram you will enjoy the cascading waterfall and the alluring charm of plantations. Mattupetty Lake is a calm spot for picnics and boating.
Alleppey is the hub for backwater tourism in Kerala. House boats locally called “kettuvallam” are available on hire on a daily basis as well as for longer duration and packaged trips to take visitors on the exquisite waterways. These house boats in general have 2 bed rooms with attached bath rooms. Some of the boats have the bedrooms fitted with air conditioners. Routine trips include food cooked on board in the traditional Kuttanad style. The leisurely cruises show a microcosm of life on the water side with breath taking views of the water, land, birds and human habitations. The unique distinction of Alappuzha is that, it is the only district in Kerala without a forest. The favourite water channel here is the Vembanad Lake. The Kayamkulam Lake and the interconnected canals are the other water bodies used for backwater cruises. These picturesque backwater destinations offer you sheer heavenly ambience to celebrate honeymoon holidays in Kerala in a romantic way.
